The Iraq Handover & France

Much of the world was taken by surprise when Iraq became an independent nation forty-eight hours earlier than anticipated. The Coalition Provisional Authority ceased to exist and the formal U.N.-recognized occupation of Iraq ended with Governor Bremer signing the legal forms and then leaving Iraq two hours later.

I was pleased that it happened earlier than anticipated. It seems to have taken some of the wind out of the nay-sayers, which is very pleasing. Still, we have 100,000+ soldiers on the ground in Iraq, attempting to rebuild the country and providing security. It will be a happier day when we are able to get our troops out of there and let the Iraqis deal with their issues.

I doubt that the terrorism will end once American and coalition forces leave. This is wishful nay-sayer thinking. I would suggest that the nay-sayers get on board, especially the idiot French President, who has done nothing to repair French-American relations. I have this funny feeling that French indifference will come around and bite them in the butt; this will be especially true if al-Qaeda hits France with a devastating terrorist strike. If 9/11 had happened in Paris and it were 3,000 dead Frenchmen instead of 3,000 dead Americans, do you think they would be singing a different tune?

And they accuse the United States of being arrogant? France is by far more arrogant; it should be pointed out that this arrogance has been coming from a nation whose army has the distinction of being the first and only Western army to lose a war to an Arab army since the Crusades!

The prison abuse scandal in Iraq PALES in comparison to the French occupation of Algeria, which lasted for over a HUNDRED years! And the French government WON'T come to terms with their responsibility in torturing Algerians in the same way that the U.S. government is dealing with the scandal in Iraq. And France has the unmitigated gall to criticize the U.S.?

And which political party in France pressed for Chiroc to apologize to the thousands of Algerians tortured by French soldiers, in particular those who were tortured, raped and murdered by French troops in the 1950's and 1960's? The French Communist Party! Revolting!! Don't believe me? Do a web search on "France & Algeria" and READ the history!

SO THERE!

Rich Politicians

I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of voting for rich politicians.

When are we going to get a working man (or woman) in as President?

There are currently 25 millionaires in the Senate and 120 in the House of Representatives. This is astounding! 3.5% of American households are in the million plus category (as reported in The millionaire Next Door by Stanley & Danko), but 25% of the Senate and 28% of the House reported holdings or income of a million dollars or more.

Bush and Cheney are both in that category, as is Kerry.

Too many rich politicians!!
