Video Purporting to Show U.S. Marines Throwing a Puppy Off a Cliff Is a Fake: Even Yiping Heard As Dog Was Going Over Cliff Was Someone Faking It

The incredibly disturbing video currently making it's way around the world of U.S. Marines throwing a puppy over a cliff is a fake.

If you choose to watch this video, listen to the dog as he gets thrown over the cliff. The last two yipes sound like someone coughing. I can make sounds like that too. If this was a real dog, he was obviously already dead. He wasn't moving around from being handled by the scruff of his neck; the dog looked very stiff. And he didn't struggle at all.

This joke is an example of incredibly bad humor that brings disgrace to the U.S. uniform--if the two men in the video are even U.S. military soldiers. They should have buried this dead dog, as any decent human being would have.

"Dog" is IN the Doghouse: Racial Tirade Leads to Network Suspending Production of His "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Show

This has not been a very good couple of years for Duane "Dog" Chapman, the TV bounty hunter who has a popular TV show on the A&E network ("Dog the Bounty Hunter").

Mexico arranged for Dog to be arrested due to his hunting down a wanted criminal on Mexican soil in 2003, in violation of Mexican law. With days to go before a statute of limitations expired in the case, U.S. federal marshals arrested Dog in Hawaii in 2006, and a court battle ensued for the extradition of Dog to Mexico.

The Mexican government eventually changed it's mind about prosecuting Dog in 2007, and settled for an assurance that Dog wouldn't engage in bounty hunting on Mexican territory ever again.

Dog had numerous appearances on CNN, Fox News and other media outlets over the last year, following his arrest. Life seemed to be back on track.

Then, a couple of days ago, the National Enquirer posted an audio of a racially charged tirade (WARNING: OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE) by Dog against the African-American girlfriend of his son. Dog has started the apology "process" while A&E has stopped production of Dog's bounty hunting reality show, pending an investigation.

What is it with these celebrities self-destructing like this??!

Great Dane Shoots Owner: Don't Blame the Dog

It seems like there is a story such as this one in the media every so often; this one was a little different due to the comments of the "victim's" fiance.

A Great Dane bumped an end-table which had a loaded handgun on it. The gun fell off the table and went off with the impact. The round hit the owner, requiring him to be rushed to the hospital, where he's in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back.

The fiance says she's afraid of what he will do to the dog when he gets out of the hospital.

Seems to me that he should leave the dog alone; it wasn't the dog's handgun; the dog didn't load the gun and leave it where it could be knocked off the table. I also wonder if the gun's safety was on or off. The dog's not responsible for that either.

Improper handling and storage of the gun is responsible. In other words, the owner is responsible. If what the fiance is saying is correct, a few anger management courses and firearm training classes might be in order here.

Menu Foods Recall is Troubling: Rat Poison Discovered in Wet Dog and Cat Foods

The Menu Foods recall of dozens of varieties of cat and dog food is very troubling. Rat poison contamination of pet food was discovered as the culprit in the deaths of an unknown number of cats and dogs.

Of particular concern to me is the recall of several types of Nutro dog food, specifically. I feed my dog Nutro Natural Choices Lamb Meal with Rice Formula, which he enjoys a great deal. It's a dry dog food, which are not part of this recall.

But it hasn't stopped me from checking the Menu Foods web site daily, to see if this problem gets any worse. They've recalled several varieties of the wet version of my dog's food.

I've already had a scare with the Diamond dog food recall, which was more than a little responsible for my switching my Jack Russell Terrier over to Nutro. They initially recalled Diamond dog foods in Michigan as well but later canceled it upon finding out where the foods from the affected plants were sent.

Upon hearing about the Diamond recall at work, I hurried home and checked the label to see if the bag was under recall--(it wasn't).

Now Nutro is under a cloud. Though this recall doesn't affect my dog's food (yet), I'm not a happy camper.
