As Expected, Liberals Target Those Who Aren't Gushing Over Senator Kennedy: Bloggers are Initial Targets

Politico.com is starting to go after those who decided not to hold their fire on the late Senator Kennedy.

Targeted were Washington Times columnist Andrew Breitbart, who twittered that Kennedy was a "villain," a "duplicitous bastard," and a "prick" and commented that he was "...more than willing to go off decorum to ensure THIS MAN is not beatified,” and “Sorry, he destroyed lives. And he knew it." Breitbart's comments, not mine.

They also mentioned HotAir's AllahPundit who wrote up a sarcastic commentary on what the eulogy was going to sound like.

And Instapundit over at Pajamas Media wrote that the Kennedy coverage was going to be like the "Wellstone funeral on steroids." Conservatives remember that disgraceful funeral as a Democratic rally, which was totally disgusting and inappropriate. The Democrats lost seats in the election that followed the Wellstone funeral because of their actions.

They even mentioned Limbaugh, who did hold his fire on Kennedy, but criticized the Clintons for being strangely quiet and commented that they had parted ways with Kennedy in January of 2008, when Senator Kennedy endorsed Obama for President instead of Hillary.

I'm waiting to see if the news anchors take the same stance that they did in 2004: that coverage of the Reagan funeral was excessive. I think the Kennedy coverage will eclipse the Reagan coverage.

Still waiting for Savage and Hannity to weigh in; listening to Savage tonight will be interesting. He's the most likely to go off on Kennedy and attract attention. Hannity will moderate his tone; Limbaugh did, so did Beck. O'Reilly will be interesting as well tonight.

Limbaugh ISN'T In Charge of GOP: Dems Making Hay Out of Limbaugh's Telling GOP What to Do

Democratic leaders have been reacting to a speech that Limbaugh gave to the Republican political action group (CPAC) last week, saying that Limbaugh is running the GOP.

So?

Maybe he ought to.

But the fact is, that he isn't; he's giving the Republicans a much-needed kick in the seat of their pants to get them back on track.

They've been off track for quite some time now, and voters punished them. Limbaugh has been screaming bloody murder since the Republicans started trying to out-Democrat the Democrats and turned their backs on their core principles of reducing government, lowering taxes and other conservative issues.

The GOP ought to listen to Rush and keep saying "no" to socialist proposals. It may cost them in the short term, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

GOP Leadership Backs Off From Comments Against Limbaugh and Steers House GOP to Reject Obama Stimulus Plan

The House GOP leadership backed away from their comments against Rush Limbaugh, saying that the comments read harsher than they were intended.

Rush seemed willing to let bygones be bygones, but pushed the leadership to be more aggressive in their attempts to stop the Obama Administration's agenda, which was also the correct thing to do.

Their conservative base will support them if they stick to their conservative principles, and don't knuckle under to the new order in Washington. The Republicans who lost their seats did a poor job of taking care of their conservative constituents, who didn't turn out to support them, or threw their votes elsewhere.

The House GOP's unanimous rejection of President Obama's stimulus bill is a very good start. I was pleased to see that. Having the Republicans get along with the Democrats is not in our nation's best interests.

Many of our problems need more than one solution, and if we get into the groupthink that the Democrats have bought into, we run the risk of restricting our choices in dealing with the economic difficulties that have put our economy into the toilet.

House GOP Leaders Buy Into Socialist Groupthink: Telling Limbaugh to Shut Up Because He's Pointing Out Where They Need to Go Won't Help Them

The GOP House leadership told Rush Limbaugh to back off his comments and that he and Sean Hannity are brick-throwers who don't have to do what is necessary for the well-being of the public.

The House GOP has bought into the socialist feel-good groupthink of the Democrats.

This is why the GOP lost so badly in November, and why they will continue to lose seats. They're alienating their own constituents. By not standing up to the Democrats now, they're proving that this is simply a continuation of 2008, where they're trying to out-Democrat the Democrats. They haven't learned this lesson yet.

Republicans need to be Republicans, and stand on their own merits, not try to cling to the coattails of the Democrats, who are about to enter a troubled time in their own party, now that all the pieces of the elected government are in place.

The Dems are about to find out that capturing power is a lot easier than maintaining it, especially with the patchwork coalition that holds their party together trying to pull in so many different (and opposite) directions. And when Obama starts to move toward the center to govern, that's when the real fireworks will begin inside the liberal Democratic Party.

The Republicans blew it when they controlled the House, Senate and White House. They didn't do what they should have done, and then lost both houses of Congress and the Presidency.

Instead of telling Limbaugh to shut up, the GOP leadership ought to listen to what he's saying and maneuver themselves into position for the next elections. They need to FIGHT against Democratic Party initiatives and propose their own, not go along weakly with the Democrats.

And if the GOP leadership is too weak and too timid to do so, then perhaps they should stand down and let someone in who WILL! Joining the Democratic attack on Limbaugh is not the sign of strong GOP leadership, that's for certain.

Still waiting for the leadership that has been sorely lacking in the GOP....

Contrary to Popular Groupthink, Now is NOT the Time for National Unity: Now's the Time to FIGHT

The press has been going after Rush Limbaugh for saying that as a conservative, he wants "Obama to fail."

I heard CNN blasting him last night for saying this, saying it's not helpful to "national unity" behind the Obama Administration. Excuse me, but has CNN forgotten that not everyone voted for THEIR candidate?

Now is not the time for national unity; now is the time to FIGHT LIKE CATS AND DOGS to stop the Venezuelan-ization of our country. The government has no need to nationalize banks and private businesses, as Chavez has in Venezuela.

We are NOT Venezuela II or Cuba II.

Limbaugh is absolutely right. And for all these news organizations to gang up on Limbaugh in this fashion for defending the conservative position shows how far and how deep the socialist groupthink extends.

No more bailouts; the economy needs to be allowed to right itself. The accuracy of this position will be made clear when the companies that have already been bailed out start going under down the road, and taxpayers will be left with nothing but the debt to show for it.

Fairness Doctrine is Fair in Name Only: It is Legalized Assault on First Amendment

With the Barak Obama/John McCain thing nearly over, Democrats in Congress are turning up the rhetoric to restore the Fairness Doctrine to push conservatives off the AM dial.

It's fair in name only. It will target only conservatives as they hold the lion's share of the market, and will ignore the smaller--and just as provocative--leftists and others who make just as many damning statements on their programs as Limbaugh, Savage and Hannity do.

And with the dawn of the internet, it's also unnecessary.

Liberal programs don't do well on the radio, as the Air America Radio experience showed us. But commentators like Rush Limbaugh rake in the dough because they understand marketing and advertising, which was the primary reason that Air America went under. They didn't follow a conventional business model that Limbaugh and the other successful opposition programs do.

All talk of reinstating the Fairness Doctrine should be shelved permanently.

Letter to Limbaugh from Senate Condemning Him Up to $800,000+ on E-Bay; Profits to be Donated to Charity

Rush Limbaugh is maximizing the splash from the Senate's "phony soldier" maxi-screw up by putting the letter that the Senate sent to his employer on E-Bay.

To recap, here's a partial write-up of an earlier post:

The problem was that this "soldier" wasn't a soldier at all, and had never been in Iraq. Limbaugh referred to him--truthfully I might add--as a "phony soldier," and was immediately attacked by Media Matters and the usual crowd--as being an anti-military commentator who was going after soldiers who were opposed to the Iraq War. Again, several of the networks picked up the story and ran with it as their lead story for several days. Then the Senate Democrats got involved, demanding that Limbaugh and the company that syndicates his national radio show, Clear Channel Communications Inc., retract the "phony soldier" comment immediately. Senate Majority Leader Reid made a speech on the floor of the Senate, as did several of his colleagues. They even went so far as to sidetrack their already-sidetracked agenda and put together a letter that condemned Limbaugh and demanded the retraction. Forty-one Democratic Senators signed the letter.

The letter is up to over $800,000 on E-Bay. Profits are to be donated to a fund for the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which sees to the education children of Marines and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

This letter is somewhat historical, as it is a very public attack (based on blatant lies) on a private citizen by part of the U.S. Congress. I hope it is bought by someone who will see to it that this document is displayed publicly and prominently as an example of politics run amok in Washington.

Ultra-Left Launches Two-Pronged Smear Campaigns Against Conservative Commentators; Senate Democrats Foolishly Get Involved

The ultra-left has gone after Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh with smear campaigns in the last few weeks that Senate Democrats found irresistible to avoid. They're on the wrong side--again.

Some background...Bill O'Reilly was on his radio show and was expressing his surprise at a recent visit to a Harlem-area diner, in which he saw that minority-population customers acted like everyone else. The Democratic organization Media Matters posted a clip of the clip on their web site and CNN and MSNBC jumped on the story a few days later, running it as their lead stories last week, making suggestions that O'Reilly was a racist.

I have a few things to say about that.

O'Reilly kind of screwed up by using words that had double-meanings. He should have thought twice about revealing his apparent ignorance, but the clip of the clip used by the media and Media Matters was unfair. They didn't bother playing what O'Reilly said before and after the comment in question.

Limbaugh didn't screw up. It's the Senate Democrats who royally screwed up by going on with such a blatant lie. Their condemnation of Rush (a private citizen--not an elected official) during Senate working hours is further testimony to Reid's failed leadership, the derailed Democratic agenda, and the ineptitude of the Democratic majority to recover their lost momentum. Furthermore, the Democrats who signed Reid's letter are accomplices of the lies told by one man who is a "phony soldier." The words "swindlers" and "liars" fit in here somewhere.

The smart Democrats were the ones who didn't sign Reid's letter.

I object to taxpayer resources and time being used in the manner that the Senate Democrats have displayed in the last couple of days. It's the Democrats who should apologize to Limbaugh and to their constituents for participating in this utter farce.
