Big Trouble: Neo-Nazis May Crash City Diversity Celebration

A planned neo-Nazi rally in downtown Lansing and a planned diversity rally designed to counter the presence of the neo-Nazis in the state capitol may now be on a major collision course as the skinheads announced that they may attend the diversity rally so that the public can "help them celebrate their white heritage."

There goes the neighborhood.

No matter what excuse the neo-Nazis make for invading other parts of the city, all they are doing is looking for trouble. They've already got trouble in the form of thousands who are planning on turning out to protest against the National Socialist Movement rally.

Hopefully someone is telling the neo-Nazis that inciting to riot is not protected speech. They should hold their damned rally and then get out of dodge peaceably. And the people who are going to protest ought to let them leave without making a bad situation worse.

If things get out of hand, there's no telling where everything will end up.

I cannot let this go unchallenged.

We'll see who draws a bigger crowd...your organization, or the ARA Network, the LCAN network, the ministers who are currently (and actively) requesting that their congregations turn out to counter-protest from all over the state, and from people in Lansing itself.

It'll be interesting to see who's living in the fantasy world once the camera angle pans wide and we see how many people are actually there on each side.

I'm hoping that everyone screams their lungs out at one another and that's as far as it goes, but the way that people are talking, I doubt it will happen.

Also, your track record does not inspire confidence for a peaceful rally, followed by a gracious exit.

You just want to make a bigger splash and you're going where you have more opportunity to incite people to violence.

That's the real reason why your side is considering moving from it's downtown protest site. The contention over the State Police installing a chain-linked fence around your protest site is merely an excuse to confront people.

I feel bad for those whose lives will be affected by any violence that comes from either side.

Violence isn't necessary; nor is destroying public or private property. We don't want a repeat of the Toledo riots here.

Hold your Constitutionally-protected rally, then leave us in peace.
